Good morning! The photo has nothing to do with my caption. It was just a fun one from the car boot yesterday. Well it is Monday after all so I should get some work done. My To list: 1. Get my UK pensions consolidated and details updated 2. Make an appointment to renew my passport. That 1 day service sounds perfect 3. Start packing up my larger finds and get a shipping quote 4. Visit friends, have fun, stay cool before work starts I’ll be driving back up to Milton Keynes today. Malvern has been lovely. And I’m hoping to stop at a few towns on the way up. Happy Sunday ! This is Mill House, where I was lucky to stay with one of my dear friends. It’s a wonderful family home and estate in a beautiful Northamptonshire village . The previous owners loved this place for 23 years. My friend has been here for one year. As you can imagine there is much to do and a thousand decisions to be made. The good news is, the house has great bones. High ceilings, stained glass windows, original shutters, a handmade kitchen..... and some striking architectural features. Which means you could literally stick a pair of old boots in the middle of a reception room and it would still look good. But we’re not going to do that are we... Nope! Instead I’ll have the pleasure and very best time helping my friend put together a concept for her communal spaces. You guys ... I’m over the moon!!! Imagine my luck, while being away from my home... being able to design and decorate this house ! You do know what that means though ? Yep, lots of thrifting ahead. And many many cups of tea. Also, be on notice... I won’t be doing this alone. You’ll be helping me too. Of course I need the help of this little old house loving and home decor community. I am blessed! To not succumb to jet lag... you guessed it... I went thrifting. Here’s my first London find. A lovely pair of individual pie dishes by Mason Cash. The pattern is called CANE. These were £2 for the pair and are vintage based on the stamp on the base. I love these heavy stoneware pieces. We have a set of three mixing bowls that my husband uses to make his famous breads. If you find these definitely pick them up. So what do you think? Sweet or Savoury pie in these? I’m partial to an apple crumble any day of the week, btw! Hope you find some treasures today. Mary Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow? With a 3 foot fence around it to keep those pesky rabbits out ! Rabbits 🐇 have eaten everything bar the carrots. Good Morning ! So this happened yesterday. I finally got around to DIY covering 1 of the 4 ice cream chairs. The chairs are from a local collector and former well known interior designer. I couldn’t believe my luck when I got them for $25, a year ago. They needed to have the seats redone and repainted but otherwise in good knick. I took one chair apart in the Spring. And then I got busy, but really I got scared about messing this chair up. So I avoided it. Why or why did I doubt myself? I never used to be like this. In my little stash I had 3 coffee sacks that I picked up at a car boot sale two years ago. They were perfect for this project. I gathered my supplies and off I went. Measuring, cutting, adjusting, refining and learning as I go. These chairs are tension fit and the entire chair had to be dismantled to replace the foam and covering. But Holy smoke ... I did it ! I did it ! And... Without the help of a single YouTube video. Oh and the fern is an $0.88 normally $9, rescue from @walmart. Can I just get a high five folks ? This is my first DIY project of the summer and my plans are to finish the other four when I get back from London. Isn’t she a beaut ?
