As I was checking out of the antique store, it was funny to overhear a conversation. This lady had noticed the dish I was purchasing and wondered what it was.
She said she thought it was an ashtray. I smiled and told her, it was actually a vintage soap dish. Seeing the confusion on her face I added that bar soap was a big thing back in the day. Round ones were pretty popular, hence the shape of the soap dish !
